Sappi Southern Africa requires a FT – Facilitator: Instrumentation Apprentice for a 1 year contract to plan, design, develop and deliver learning experiences to develop our Instrumentation apprentices through the phase training program and support the other disciplines at the Skills Centre.

This role reports into the Skills Centre Manager.

The main responsibilities of the job are:

  • Prepare training demand schedules to cover all Instrumentation apprentice courses offered at the centre.
  • Ensure that the administrator prepares training schedules accordingly. Schedules should be published 90 days in advance and updated monthly. 
  • Coordinate the assessment of the apprentice trainees at the skills centre. Ensure that registration documents, registers and assessment processes and results are properly filed as required. Participate in the selection process by sitting in on interviews.
  • Facilitate the relevant Phase training in accordance with the training curriculum requirements.
  • Prepare progress reports for all trainees and sign off each element of their training as they progress through the modules, using the prescribed formats.
  • Submit signed attendance registers to the administrator for capturing and safe keeping.
  • Develop training material as required for apprentice courses to ensure that trainees are operations-ready when they complete the programme. 
  • Develop training material for short courses, with a focus on practical application of skills without requiring formal qualifications. 
  • Ensure that training materials meet instructional design standards, contain adequate opportunities for practical’s and with the requisite formative and summative assessments.
