PURPOSE:
To be responsible for diesel fitting activities pertaining to the extraction, maintenance, manufacturing, and installation within the fleet and shore operations, as well as overseeing of contractors, subordinates, and resources within the Trawling Division.
OUTPUTS & MEASUREMENTS:
- Ensure that all diesel fitting functions are carried out by maintaining vessels in accordance with the vessel’s blueprints, making use of hand tools, correct trade techniques and shop machinery.
- Operate all mechanical and electrical apparatuses and equipment when required.
- Ensure that shop machinery operates in accordance with safety regulations.
- Accurately set tappets in accordance with company’s standards, engine specifications and guidelines
REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Qualified Diesel Fitter with a trade certificate.
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing, on a supervisory level.
- Ability to maintain good interpersonal skills.
- Must have an analytical mindset and the ability to understand technical documentation such as design blueprints and instructional manuals.
- Ability to supervise systems and processes
- Sound knowledge of combustion, compression and other industry related testing procedures, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and the repair and maintenance thereof.
