Otis: Lift Mechanic

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with customers
  • Maintaining units (elevators and escalators) as per planned maintenance schedule.
  • Carrying out timeous repairs to prevent breakdowns
  • Attending to call-backs, perform standby 24 hours and 7 days a week
  • Actively promote “S” and “T” sales in the area, execute “T” service work
  • Complete reports / timesheets as per requirements
  • Ensure safe keeping of company tools and equipment

Required Skills/Abilities & Qualifications :

  • Must have the ability to train new and qualified apprentices
  • Must be in possession of an N3 or equivalent qualification
  • Electrical Diploma and SABS 1545 Accreditation would be an advantage
  • Minimum of five years post apprenticeship experience
  • Must have completed their trade test and be in possession of their trade test certificate.
  • Must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar industry.
  • Must be able to work on both elevators and escalators.

  • Sound technical background, with expertise in both Otis and non-Otis units
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently
  • Must be prepared to work overtime and on weekends
  • Ability to work on lifts and escalators
