Duties and responsibilities:
- Clean laboratories facilities and equipment.
- Ensure that the water dispensers in the tearoom are filled.
- Wash, dry, and store glassware.
- Wash, and clean laboratory equipment.
- Replace supplies utilised such as weighing paper, fillet paper, boiling chips, cotton, acetone, etc. at the end of each day.
- Ensure that all samples and reagents are returned to their proper place at the end of each day.
- Assist with soil and plant sample preparation where necessary.
- Promote safety in the laboratory; enforce proper use of protective gear, proper handling of chemicals and spills, proper handling of broken glassware, proper collection of chemical waste for disposal, and proper disposal of non-hazardous laboratory waste.
- Return and secure all caps on chemical containers.
- Drain the compressors daily.
- Maintain, clean, and test cleanliness of laboratory equipment to ensure that quality and standards are kept
Inherent Job Requirements:
- Grade 10 NQF level 2.
