Full Job Description
An opportunity exists within Safal Steel for an Electrical Technician to be based in Cato Ridge (Kwazulu-Natal). The position reports to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager.
To provide technical support to plant production and maintenance operations. Assist with training and high-level fault-finding. Perform plant development projects. Drive safety initiatives allocated too.
- Good knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles, regulations, processes, systems, procedures and practices.
- Expert knowledge of general maintenance processes and systems.
- Good understanding of plant processes and procedures.
- Project and contractor management.
- Coaching of artisans.
- Auditing as required
- Communication (both oral and written) and presentation skills.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Provide Technical Support.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Task orientated and natural drive to complete tasks timeously
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work in hot and cold environment, heights and confined areas.
- Ability to work standby and shift work as and when required.
- Able to support the organisation in times of emergencies.
- Proficient in the official business language, good written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate efficiently to team members.
- Suitable candidate will be required to perform other duties that are related to the function as prescribed by business requirements.
- Valid driver’s license
Minimum: N6 National Diploma in electrical engineering Qualifications or Higher National Diploma in electrical engineering from University of technology
Minimum experience: ECSA approved candidate technician program + 3 years, or N6 + 8 years in Heavy Industry, Automation and instrumentation
