Job Description
- Assist the process controller to prepare the process/plant for start-up
- Monitor plant and equipment within the scope of authority
- Assist the process controller to shut down a process/plant
- Clean and tidy up equipment and the work area
- Perform routine inspections of plant equipment and site to make sure all equipment are running within the operating limits, and to report any signs of abnormal operation
- Measure, mix and dose chemicals and/or raw materials to the mixing/reactor vessels
- Draw samples for quality purposes
- Run off finished product into bulk silos, drums, bulk bags or other containers for shipment
- Act as first line of defense in case of a fire and other emergencies
- Receive and off-load raw materials from bulk tankers
- Perform any other related tasks as may be required from time to time
- Assist production superintendent as required
Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 or NQF 3 with mathematics and science – required
- NQF 4 Plant Operation – advantageous
- Forklift license – advantageous
- Minimum six months in chemical production environment
- Able to do acting in the Process Controller position
- Understanding the hazards and risks of processes and products
