Full Job Description
Job Objective:
The primary function of the Artisan is to perform fieldwork that ensures the safe and economical supply of piped gas to the customer.
Knowledge and Requirements:
- Qualified Tradesman (Boilermaker or Welder or Fitter & Turner).
- Minimum N3
- 5 years past trade test experience
- SAGA QUALIFICATION SANS 329,827 and ASME B31Q advantageous
- Computer Literate
- Valid driver’s licence/PDP
- Sound knowledge of safety and gas related fieldwork.
- Strong technical and leadership skills.
- Ability to work within a team.
- Reading and understanding of technical drawings / road maps.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong people management skills and the ability to deal with a diverse number of people.
- Ability to work well under pressure and stressful situations.
Duties include:
- Perform all gas related field work (installing of new installations, change and installing of new meters, cut/plug of mains/services, reconnections, complaints, renewal and repair of mains and services, DCP test, maintenance of service and mains governors, reading meters, taking and maintain pressures, installing and removing governors, operating of pneumatic tools and machinery, electric tools and machinery, pipe location, leak detection, welding tic /gas, fusion welding, butt welding, cutting and heating torches, fabrication of work pieces, offsets and reducers in work shop and on site.
