Minimum Requirements
Grade 12/Matric certificate
Minimum N2/N3 certificate with:
- Mathematics
- Engineering Science or
- Technical/ Engineering Drawings
Duties & Responsibilities
Theory learning
- Understand Workshop safety
- Care and use of tools applicable to the trade
- identification of keys and locking devices
- Fusing of metal and material
- Understand pressure testing
- Knowledge of cylinder head removal, assess and replace
- How to perform service on the vehicle
- Knowledge of air braking test and diagnose
- Assessment on how to fuel injector pump
- Understand engine trouble shooting, testing and tune up procedure
Practical workplace learning
- Assist qualified mechanics on the floor with all mechanical repairs
- Ensure the workplace is clean and tidy at all times
- Under the guidance/supervision of a qualified Diesel Mechanic for troubleshooting motorised petrol/diesel fleet and undertaking repairs
- Understand all functions of technical components on vehicles, including dismantle and reassemble them in order to fix any problems.
- Must have the abilities to work under pressure
- Ensure effective communication with staff and customers
- Perform call out duties with a qualified mechanic
