Job Description
- Manufacture a range of mechanical parts and spares according to specification using a variety of workshop machines, hand tools and measuring equipment.
- Programme and tool setting of machines for manufacturing of spares based on information on job cards and detailed on drawings.
- Set machinery for operators to manufacture spares for production plants, measure and inspect work pieces to ensure they meet specification as detailed on drawings
- Manufacture components according to approved drawings.
- Identify errors in drawings as well as improvements in manufacturing methods and/or processes.
- Quality inspection of parts and spares manufactured.
- Assembly of parts and spares to form sub-assemblies or completed equipment.
- Set up and commissioning of sub-assemblies or machines to be fit for purpose for production.
- Planning/scheduling of work.
- Incorporating best workshop manufacturing practices.
- Provide scheduled as well as emergency breakdown service to the business.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum N2 qualification in machinist/toolmaker.
- N3 qualification in machining would be advantageous.
- Qualified machinist/tool maker artisan with trade test certificate with minimum 3-5 years’ workshop and CNC programming, setting and operating experience, preferably in Mastercam.
- Knowledge and experience on Fanuc controls and Haas machines would be advantageous.
- Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings and have good knowledge of tolerances relating to the machining of materials.
- Computer literate – MS Office.
- Capable of performing fault finding and diagnostics on mechanical machines Management training and experience will be an advantage
- Knowledge of the OHS Act and Explosive Act
- In-depth knowledge of engineering related principles and standards
- Knowledge of maintenance in a manufacturing environment
