Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Mechanical Foreman, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the PM31 Mechanical Department in their maintenance strategy. The incumbent will assist in reducing down-time thereby increasing machine and time efficiency.
Education:
- Essential – N3
- Fitter Trade test
- Grade 12
- Desirable – N6
Job Experience:
- 2-3 years post trade test experience as a fitter
- Pulp and paper experience advantageous
Key Performance Areas:
- The incumbent in this position will provide a mechanical maintenance and repair service to ensure plant availability
- Obtain and analyze handover reports containing equipment status
- Perform scheduled routine inspections and identify possible / potential problem areas
- Liaise with plant personnel to gather machine condition and product related information to determine course and corrective action and prioritize required solutions
- Requisition available spares from stores
- Test and monitor equipment for functionality and adjust as required
- Complete all relevant documentation, reports and handover to production
- Ensures that SHE legislation is adhered to in work area
- Ensure housekeeping in work area
- Identify and take corrective action in terms of unsafe conditions and acts
- Carry out standby duties
