Job description:

The Truck workshop department requires a committed, hardworking and reliable Semi-Skilled Technical Assistant to join their team. The Assistant will be responsible for the following tasks, amongst others:

• Able to performance basic maintenance, mechanical and technical tasks
• Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of workshop safety
• Remove and replace basic components/parts on a heavy duty vehicle with supervision
• Able to understand all the functions of the components of a heavy duty vehicle
• Be able to do basic diagnostic fault finding and assemblies on heavy duty vehicles
• Housekeeping on a daily basis
• General workshop duties i.e. maintaining the cleanliness of the workshop and tool store
• Identify and able to select appropriate hand tools
• Able to use basic power tools
• Assisting Artisans with various tasks as and when required

Qualifying Criteria:

• Grade 12
• Proven interest in obtaining a relevant qualification or suitable certification
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Previous experience in the same or similar role advantageous
• Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations
• Physically fit (Strength to handle materials, tools and machines)
• Sober habits
