Electrical Maintenance Lead
Job Description
Main Purpose of Job
Reports To: Engineering Manager
To provide electrical expertise, guidance, direction and support towards the maintenance & engineering of Enstra Mill’s assets to ensure improved and sustained safety, reliability, availability, maintainability & performance. To effectively support and provide expertise to the electrical maintenance engineering teams to achieve the required goals and objectives.

To provide electrical expertise, guidance, direction and support towards the maintenance & engineering of Enstra Mill’s assets to ensure improved and sustained safety, reliability, availability, maintainability & performance. To effectively support and provide expertise to the electrical maintenance engineering teams to achieve the required goals and objectives.
Dimensions / KPI’s Key Interfaces
- Perform fault level calculations, cable sizing calculations, CB sizing/selection, etc.
- Sound knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2 with direction provided to the electrical team on electrical installations
- Sound knowledge and application of electrical machinery maintenance development, execution and optimisation
- Awareness and understanding of the Electrical Machinery Regulations and Electrical Installation Regulations
- Understanding and application of electrical earthing and surge protection
- Thorough understanding of electrical drawings and circuits
- Application of motor control, protection and testing (AC and DC)
- Troubleshooting and correcting PLC and DCS electrical faults
- Develop & maintain electronic Technical Files for each asset.
- Develop and maintain procedural guidelines and Safe Working Procedures in line with SANS, Corporate and ISO standards.
- An understanding of system and control with regards to PLC programming, Sectional drive, Servo and position systems experience.
- Hazardous area classification studies and implementation
- Arc flash studies and implementation
- Conduct technical assessments of machinery, and buildings regards safety design and capability.
- Work to agreed budgets and cost control.
- Liaise with drawing office in terms of procedures for drawing change control and updates of P&IDs.
Qualifications / Education / Experience / Skills Required
- B.sc or B-Eng Degree in Electrical Engineering (heavy current) with at least 2 years’ experience or B-tech Degree in Electrical Engineering (heavy current) with at least 5 years’ experience, in a plant maintenance/electrical engineering/reliability engineering field. (preferably in pulp and paper or FMCG industry)
- Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) would be advantageous
- Registered person (3-phase installation electrician) with the DOL would be advantageous
