Job Responsibilities and Duties
Maintenance Fitters craft, assemble and fit parts to heavy machinery and industrial equipment. They also install, maintain and repair a range of heavy machinery and industrial tools including their mechanical and hydraulic components.
Job Role
- Interpreting drawings, diagrams and specifications and determining suitable materials and sequence of operations.
- Checking fabricated and assembled parts for fit and finish, tolerances and accuracy using precision measuring tools.
- Using machinery and tools to form raw materials into finished products by cutting, pressing, grinding, planning, boring and drilling.
- Performing routine maintenance of machines and tools, and diagnosing and repairing faults.
- Use oxy, electric, TIG and MIG welding techniques and machining processes to replace and repair parts.
- Preparing patterns for casting and cutting.
- Cutting, threading, bending and installing pipes and lines for hydraulic components.
- Following safety protocols.
- Grade 12 and Minimum N2 Certificate
- Relevant Fitting and Machining/Turning Technical Qualifications: Red sealed Engineering Trade certificate or SAQA Verified Trade Certificate);
- Studying towards N6 National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering would be advantageous;
- Sound knowledge in Crusher and Milling plants
- Minimum of 10 to 20 years solid experience in a Manufacturing and Mining environment as a Maintenance Fitter
- Valid driving license
