PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

  • The role holder will form an integral part in the execution of day-to-day electrical work and planned maintenance within the Refinery Business Unit.

  • Decisions, made through analysis, of best process, routine or system to get the job done.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute electrical planned maintenance within specified time and give feedback to Electrical & Instrumentation Foreman.
  • Promptly attend to any electrical breakdowns and callouts as and when required.
  • Conduct your work within acceptable quality to improve plant availability, reliability and general housekeeping.
  • Complete your weekly SAP PM work orders on time and give feedback.
  • Continuous improvement in electrical systems.
  • Participate in any inspection or audit as may be required.
  • Comply with and ensure that all health and safety rules are met and act pro-actively by addressing any safety concerns which may be harmful to self or other employees.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A completed Matric qualification.
  • Must have at least acquired an N3 qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Must have a recognised Trade Test certificate as an Electrician.
  • 2 – 5 years of working experience within a similar role.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Computer literacy – MS Office package and SAP full proficiency.
  • Effective communication with relevant associates regarding any maintenance information.
  • The ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • Design basic electrical circuits and drawings.
  • Be able to conduct fault finding on Electronic circuits.
  • Ability to identify and proactively address electrical faults.
  • Have knowledge on different inverters and their installation/ implementation.
  • VSD and SIMOCODE knowledge.
  • The ability to conduct electrical maintenance on an induction furnace.
  • Knowledge and adherence to the permit to work system.
  • Interact effectively through communication at all levels, building relationships, negotiation and gaining commitment.
