The role:
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Fault Finding on Siemens S7 PLC’s
- Fault Finding on Instrumentation
- Responsible for leaky feeder radio communication at the shaft, CM monitoring underground, LAN on surface and the fibre optic networks
- Instrumentation calibrations
- Ensure adherence to legal requirements
- Reporting of daily events to Instrumentation Foreman
- Installation & Maintenance of the EMS system
- Installation & maintenance of conveyor belts protection systems
- Installation & maintenance of safety systems on machinery
Requirements:
- Recognised Electrical or Mechanician Trade Test
Internal Candidates
- Grade 12, Maths (Not Literacy) & Science with a minimum E symbol or
- N2 with Maths and Science and relevant trade related subjects as per MQA guideline
External Candidates
- Grade 12 with Math (Not Literacy) & Science, minimum E symbol with four N2 relevant trade related subjects as per MQA guideline
- Sound knowledge of Safety Systems, Regulations and Standards with a high regard to safety and an excellent safety record
- Good communication, interpersonal, conflict and strong administrative skills
- Knowledge of applicable mining legislation
- Analyse and understand equipment manuals
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English
- Experience in Opencast coal mining industry
- Be prepared to do standby duties, callouts, work overtime and work shifts
- Be willing to work overtime
- Ability to plan, co-ordinate and control activities
- Be able to cope effectively with pressure in a production environment, be innovative & a self-starter
- Be able to work in a team
- Be able to identify faults and repair defects without supervision
- Valid K53 driver’s license with own transport
- In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness.
Advantageous:
- VSD experience
- Knowledge of weigh scales, density measurement, pneumatic valves & positioners
- Experience with Siemens S5/S7 PLC programming and fault-finding
