Purpose of Job
Accountable to support Laboratory and Pilot Plant production by providing effective equipment maintenance and reliability while adhering to procedures/codes.
Utilising all available support resources to increase stability and maintain sustainability of the plant.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
• Responsible and able work on a variety of Pilot Plant and Laboratory equipment which includes but not limited to pumps (centrifugal- single and multistage, Vacuum pumps, piston pumps, HPLC metering pumps), Compressors (Burton and Peter Brotherhood Reciprocating, Sera Diaphragm, Haskels, Maximator), stirrers and mixers. • Do daily plant preventative inspection on critical equipment on running plants. • Must have the ability to work independently. • Able to ensure alignment of direct and belt drive systems for rotating equipment. • Must be able to understand basic principles of condition monitoring (Vibration analysis and oil analysis). • Understand principles of mechanical seals and how to install them. • Understanding of lubrication systems and principles on Sera Diaphragm compressors and able to set the diaphragm oil pressure. • Must be able to conduct fault finding on mechanical equipment and overhaul compressors and pumps by making use of internal R&T quality check sheets. • Must be able and competent in use of overhead crane inside buildings as well as general lifting equipment. • Adhere to all safety standards, completing IMS inspection requirements and follow safe working procedures. • Report all non-conformances, incidents, and accidents to leader
Formal Education
Grade 12 (Matric) or N3 or equivalent with Maths and Physical Science as subjects
NQF 4 (CHIETA/MQA) or Red Seal Trade Test
