SANQA: Electrician

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum. Grade 12 or Equivalent Certification (NQF Level 4).
  • Electrical Certificate from a technical college. Minimum N3. (Any EW SETA certification).
  • National Technical Certificate 4 (NQF Level 5 will be advantageous)
  • No Criminal record
  • Trade tested artisan with a minimum N3 technical qualification.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of working experience as an electrician is a definite requirement.
  • Working towards an electrical wireman’s qualification would be advantageous.
  • Full understanding of SANS 10142-1 (Wiring of Premises)
  • Full understanding of OHS Act (Occupational Health and Safety)
  • Valid unendorsed driver’s license.
  • Traceable, working knowledge and experience in the renewable energy field. (Inverters, Solar, etc.)
  • Good communication skills
ROLE:
Electrical Installations:
  • Assemble and install electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand and power tools.
  • Test installations according to installation code 10142-3.
  • Inspect and repair transformers, circuit breakers, and other components.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other elements.
  • Inspect and identify hazards, defects, and compliance issues in electrical systems.
  • Install alternative supplies, including setup and configuration of systems.
  • Good knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Experience in generator repairs, maintenance, and installations.
  • Proficiency in renewable energy installations, including inverters, lithium batteries, PV, and battery management systems.
Electrical Maintenance and Repairs:
  • Maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Perform corrective and fault-finding maintenance on electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning systems using test equipment and hand tools.
Compliance and Supervision:
  • Assist in commissioning and compliance finalization of installations.
  • Hold a current electrician’s license and adhere to safety regulations.
  • Supervise and train staff members in installation, maintenance, and repair tasks.
  • Ensure timely completion of installations and compliance with project plans and schedules.
  • Data Installations: Plan and install cables, network points, looms, and terminations.
  • Understand cable routes, fiber optic installations, and cable markings.
  • Conduct fault-finding and troubleshooting installations.
Administration and Documentation:
  • Plan layouts, prepare sketches, and follow blueprints for installations.
  • Maintain records, prepare reports, and order supplies.
  • Document operational activities and submit reports. Safeguard tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
  • Manage documentation, stock, and H&S reports effectively
