GP Strategies: Technical Apprentice

Principal Accountabilities

Proficiency with required courses and delivery across the markets using most appropriate training methods

Maintain a calendar to support new model technologies, competence and skills gaps plus business needs as appropriate

Identify resource requirements, and work with the training Manager and the client central market support team to eliminate any restrictions and deliver a suitable solution

Deliver Training as required; based on information from technical support functions
and competence needs as guided by The Training Manager and other sources

Co-ordinate market requests, and find appropriate solutions

To support the identification and assessment of the impact of new model technology
on staff competency changes.

Report Monthly on the Academy Metrics, report findings

Support the use of Excellence LMS to log training and attendance as required

Maintain own technical knowledge and ability, through on-going self-study, technical training, both local as well as international e.g. UK Train the Trainer programmes

Technical training of the dealer technical staff, in order to improve the overall diagnostic skill of the dealership personnel, ensure understanding and compliance of available resource libraries (TOPIx, EPQR)

Theoretical training into the correct use of workshop equipment, diagnostic equipment and special tools in order that repairs are effective and permanent Budget management (this includes reconciliation and submission of travel allowance)

Delivery of programs within the approved budgets

Participate in initial steps of budget planning

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

Technically qualified as appropriate, time served apprentice
Technical Training experience preferred, with 5 years’ workshop experience
Thorough understanding of Outcomes based education
Thorough understanding of motor trade legislative requirements particularly
pertaining to training and development
An outstanding knowledge of vehicle technology including electronic control, petrol
and diesel technology
Fluent English – spoken and written
Awareness of automotive retail processes and factors influencing competence
development
African Motor industry experience
Ability to build excellent rapport and strong working relationships
Excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills
Expressly able to implement a coherent blended learning approach to training
solutions
Client-focussed with high degree of attention to detail
Adaptable and flexible
Proficient in MS Office applications
Ability to work independently in a market with little supervision and using resources
available
Flexible, to support on market visits as required
A self-motivator who sustains focus on results and assumes accountability for the
effective conclusion of projects/tasks
Facilitate improved dealer performance and addresses problems effectively

  • Rolling Training plans for each market
  • Training Needs Analysis effectiveness
  • Training evaluation / Dealer satisfaction
  • Use of Excellence online booking and WBT
  • Achieve defined levels of delegate competence within the Dealer / country
