We’re on the lookout for an experienced Junior Instrument Technician (Environmental) To provide field repairs and maintenance along with technical support in a team-based environment to the instrument maintenance department, specifically relating to environmental instruments (stacks, ambient monitoring, early warning stations, and water monitoring instruments). Assist in plant optimization and fault diagnosis to maximize the availability of the plant.

 

 

As a Junior Instrument Technician (Environmental), you will be responsible for:

  • Install, Inspect, maintain, and repair all environmental monitoring instruments on-site and outside the mill as directed by the Superintendent
  • Provide system technical support to the Environmental instrument maintenance team members eg:(artisan) from field instrumentation to DCS system configuration
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions of instruments
  • Check and calibrate equipment to guarantee correct measurements and optimal operation
  • Maintain all quality/calibration documentation for instrument maintenance and repair activities
  • Complete given projects on schedule and within budget, start to end. And work with equipment suppliers and contractors
  • Do standby and callouts to the site as required both for the environmental instrument department and mill finishing department
  • Participate in behavioral-based safety programs
  • Maintain the ISO 17025 management system

 

 

 

What are we looking for?

  • Matric/Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science
  • National Diploma (S4) in Instrumentation or N6 Instrumentation with trade test
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience within a manufacturing/plant environment
  • Completed formal training on ISO 17025 will be advantageous
  • Drivers licence
