The Role
As an Artisan specializing in major rebuilds for LHD loaders in our workshop, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and reliability of these machines used in demanding underground mining operations. You will utilize your expertise in mechanical fitting to dismantle, inspect, repair, and rebuild LHD equipment, adhering to engineering specifications and safety standards.
Key Performance Areas
Perform thorough assessments to identify worn or faulty parts and recommend necessary repairs or replacements. Utilize your advanced mechanical fitting skills to disassemble, inspect, rebuild, and reassemble LHD equipment and components to manufacturer specifications and engineering standards.
Conduct thorough testing and quality inspections throughout the rebuild process to verify proper functioning and adherence to performance standards.
Work in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Conduct comprehensive inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot mechanical issues and determine the root causes of equipment failures.
Perform rigorous testing and adjustment procedures to validate the performance and functionality of rebuilt LHD equipment.
Adhere to strict safety protocols and regulatory requirements while working on LHD equipment. Implement lockout/tagout procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and always maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Maintain accurate records of all rebuild activities, including inspections, repairs, replacements, and testing results. Document equipment upgrades, modifications, and any deviations from standard procedures to facilitate traceability and compliance with regulatory standards.
Collaborate effectively with engineers, supervisors, and fellow artisans to coordinate rebuild projects and share technical insights. Communicate progress updates, challenges, and recommendations to stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency throughout the rebuilding process.

Profile Required
Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification / Equivalent Qualification
Section 13 Trade Certificate
Proven experience as an artisan specializing in the rebuilding of underground earthmoving machinery, preferably LHD equipment.
Basic Computer literacy
English proficiency
Strong understanding of technical drawings and assembly procedures.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively under pressure.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for collaboration and reporting purposes.
