WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

 

  • Co-ordinates, prioritises and allocates work of artisans/resources for maintenance of plant equipment in order to ensure safe and optimum machine availability, within area of responsibility.
  • Make recommendations for improvements within specific area of responsibility.
  • Ensures availability and effective utilisation of machines, advises on improvements to equipment
  • In conjunction with Production Operations Manager, plans and controls all scheduled and planned maintenance.
  • Ensures the spares required for maintenance are available and are according to quality specifications
  • Ensures breakdowns are handled effectively and promptly.
  • Implements Effective Maintenance practices in area of responsibility.
  • Be able to take responsibility for, and support, team decisions
  • Controls and executes work against budget and authorises spending within authority limits
  • Keeping updated documentation of checksheets, maintenance tasks, job codes, overtime etc.
  • Champions TPM (5S in the workshop, Effective Maintenance and Autonomous Maintenance)

SHE

  • Enforces compliance with SHE, Food Safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensures that Company safety rules standards and regulations are adhered to within the sphere of his responsibility.

Supervisory

  • Responsible for management and development of artisans, and technical learnerships in area.
  • Coach, mentor and motivate team, conducts performance appraisals.
  • Prepares shift roster as applicable
  • Co-Ordinates activities of contractors on site.
  • Carries out any performance problems and disciplinary procedures as necessary according to policy.

Projects

  • Manage all aspects of small CAPEX Projects
  • Project Team member for larger CAPEX and Innovation projects (provides input with regards to technical specifications and assists with project implementation)” “• Knowledge of OSH Act, SHE policies, HR policies
  • Problem Solving skills
  • Problem Solving and fault-finding skills
  • Working Knowledge of OHS Act, LRA, BCEA
  • Knowledge of quality procedures laid down in ISO 9001

  • Co-ordinates repairs and allocates maintenance work in the relevant Engineering departments
  • Works with production, contractors and key stakeholders to resolve production/engineering issues
  • Contacts local and international suppliers for equipment, and spares as necessary

  • Possesses the intellectual power to determine direction
  • Ensures that direction is market driven
  • Acts decisively to improve performance

 

Experiences & Qualifications

  • BSc/Btech in Mechanical/Chemical or Industrial Engineering Management Trainee
  • 6 yrs minimum of post qualification experience in manufacturing and production environment
