South32: Electrician

The South Africa Manganese operation can be found in the manganese rich Kalahari Basin, in the country’s Northern Cape, which is home to 80 per cent of the world’s manganese. This position is based at our open-cut Mamatwan mine which started operating more than half a century ago.

 

WHAT SOUTH32 OFFER:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role is a permanent full-time position. As an auto electrician, you will be responsible for timely installation, repair and maintenance of equipment to ensure that mining activities are executed in a safe manner as well as operate equipment and tests all working parts in functional area to ensure proper utilization.

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

*Interprets and coordinates pre-work with regards to repairs, planned and predictive maintenance;•Accesses any area safely to perform necessary maintenance on machines or equipment;•Performs safety inspections of equipment and assesses risks on equipment;•Maintains a clean and safe worksite;•Ensures the upkeep of maintenance tools and equipment.

 

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

*Must have a minimum of 2 years’ technical experience on surface mobile mining equipment; ;•In depth knowledge and understanding of VIMS systems, CAT electronic Technician (ET) and the starting & charging systems components and operations;•Extensive knowledge of earthmoving equipment;•Workshop exposure which includes rebuilding of machines, wiring systems, fault finding and repairs to electrical circuits

 

Qualifications for this role are:

*N2 Technical Certificate;•Auto Electrician Trade;•Valid driver’s license;•Grade 12
