Sasol: Electrical Maintenance Artisan

Purpose of Job

Support the production by providing effective equipment maintenance and reliability while adhering to procedures and codes, utilising all available support resources to increase stability and maintain sustainability of the plant or equipment.

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

Ensure the commissioning and start-up of the plant; Be involved in electrical system punch outs; conduct breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment during commissioning and start up activities; Fault finding on pneumatic and electronic loops; Conduct technical investigations, failure analyses and plant inspections; Initiate and assist with modifications; participate in standby duties during commissioning and start up activities; Understand and use the plant and mine maintenance documentation system; Understand the planning work management system; Possess relevant plant and mine specific and basic process knowledge (defined per discipline); Comply with Safety Management Systems e.g. IMS, MBO, etc.; Be able to apply emergency procedures and read, interpret, and implement task risk assessment; Do Hazard identification and task risk assessments; Participate in daily morning meetings to discuss work assignments; Support the goals and vision of the business by meeting deadlines; Provide adequate feedback to the Supervisor on work progress; Participate in root cause analyses, and provides feedback to RCA (Root Cause Analysis) teams; Participate in risk assessments according to legislation and company requirements to improve safety; Maintain good housekeeping and adheres to waste disposal procedures; Coordinate the team activities; Coach Learners and Artisans in small groups; Share knowledge with junior Artisans in known environment and context; Participate in quarterly performance appraisal with group leader to improve personal development; Identify personal training and development needs, and incorporates into PDP with group leader’s approval; Conduct SAP inspections to maintain and improve plant sustainability; Attend and interact in PDAs (Potential Deviation Analysis) and RCAs (Root Cause Analysis) to improve plant safety and stability; Provide adequate feedback to customers on work progress; Play an appropriate supporting role during emergency situations to get the plant back online; Ensure the correct history feedback is captured to improve renewals and upgrades, as well as that the critical spares are replaced; Give input at “toolbox talks” to improve plant safety; Give input and interact in PDAs and RCAs to improve plant safety and stability; Spot continuous improvement opportunities in own work area.
