LSA Steelworks has a position for a qualified, committed, hardworking and motivated Mechanical Fitter in the Machine Shop at our SA Steelworks Division in Cape Town. The successful applicant will report to the Fitters Manager.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Implementing Company maintenance procedures, including:
- Conducting inspections on all plant machinery
- Conducting routine planned and preventative maintenance
- Working through a computerised maintenance management system
- Attending to breakdowns when required
- Setup and adjustment of machinery/equipment
- General housekeeping
- Adhering to Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Fit and assemble metal parts, tools or sub-assemblies, including welding or brazing parts
- Set up and/or operate hand and machine tools and welding equipment
- Examine detailed drawings or specifications to advice with regard to job, material and equipment requirements
- Check accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools or sub-assemblies.
- Provide coaching to semi-skilled staff
Machinery responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Industrial gearboxes, pinion boxes and flywheels
- Industrial shears
- Pinch rollers
- Bearing housing assemblies
- Belt conveyors, drives, pulleys and rollers
- Roller table conveyers
- Vibration tables
- Hydraulic and lubrication systems
- Automatic wire tying machines
- Elevators
- Electric, liquid and gas fuelled furnaces
- Evaporative coolers
Minimum Requirements:Experience:- At least 5 years experience as an Instrumentation – Automation or Electronic Technician
- FMCG or manufacturing industry experience would be advantageous
- Computer literacy and Siemens PLC experience is essential
Qualifications:- Completed N6 Certificate or an engineering-related National Diploma (S4/T3/T4), or related qualification in Electronic/Electrical Engineering (Light Current)
- Electrical/Instrumentation Trade Test
Additional Requirements:
- Excellent PLC knowledge (Siemens and Allan Bradley)
- Proficiency using Scada/Wonderware
- Sound understanding of the principles and theory of Electrical and Instrumentation circuits
- Interpretation of electrical drawings
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
- SAP experience advantageous
