Job Description

  • Assist with fitting, fabricating, and assembling plant equipment, also repairing and servicing machinery required.
  • Work in the manufacturing plant to install industrial pipework, carry out repairs to pipework using welding methods, completing jobs on time, and ensuring safety on the job site.
  • Assist to complete maintenance work on electrical equipment including testing malfunctioning equipment, identifying defects, troubleshooting, repairing equipment and replacing defective parts.
  • Assist with installation of chemical processing equipment (i.e. pumps, pipes, mechanical structures, and agitators).
  • Assist with preventative maintenance planning and execution.
  • Conduct general housekeeping in the workshop.
  • Assist with pipe fitting and troubleshooting. Must also be able to come up with concepts for improvement where required.
  • Required to conform to relevant SHEQ rules and regulations as per company policy.
  • To ensure accurate and honest reporting of incidents, near misses and safety hazards

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum education Grade 12 with a post matric qualification (Mechanical Fitting)
  • Awareness of Merseta apprenticeship requirements.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Basic awareness of OHSAct.
  • Must possess good report writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team and be deadline driven
