Job Description
RCL Foods is seeking a Fitter and Turner to join our Groceries & Spreads Division based in Molteno. The purpose of this role is to Service, repair, and maintenance of all mechanical equipment, and breakdowns on mechanical equipment. This position reports to the Millwright with shift patterns.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Service, repairs and maintenance of all mechanical equipment.
- Breakdowns on mechanical equipment.
- Standby duties.
- Safety inspection and reports.
- Research and development – upgrade equipment for improved performance at reduction of maintenance cost.
- Planned maintenance program.
- Pump experience would be an advantage.
- Grinding, cutting, and shaping metal and other raw materials.
- Repairing, maintaining, and operating large pieces of machinery
- Operating specialised tools to manufacture parts.
- Performing regular maintenance on machinery, diagnosing and repairing any faults
- Setting guides, stops and other controls for tools and setting up prescribed cutting and shaping tools.
- Monitoring the fabrication process carefully and making safe adjustments
- Following set procedures and routines
- Working with and understanding forms, designs and patterns to determine the best materials, machine and machine settings to fabricate a part.
- Checking assembled metal parts for accuracy and fit using precise measuring tools.
- Cutting, threading, bending and fitting hydraulic and pneumatic lines and pipes
- Erecting and assembling machines onsite.
- Strictly adhering to the protocols in place to keep yourself and others safe.
- Mechanical, engineering and technical skills.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12
- Trade tested as Fitter and Tuner.
- 3-5 years relevant experience (post qualification in Mechanical Maintenance)
- Knowledge of Bakery processing equipment would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of maths
- Hand-eye coordination and practical skills
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, plans and diagrams.
