Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Install, maintain, and repair all electrical systems and equipment onboard the vessel, including generators, motors, lighting, and control systems
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues, and perform necessary repairs
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of electrical systems to ensure they are functioning properly and in compliance with safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate records of all electrical work performed and report any issues or concerns to the Chief Engineer
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new electrical systems and equipment
  • Train and supervise junior electrician and other crew members on proper electrical procedures and safety protocols
  • Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your fellow crew members
  • Keep up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in electrical systems and equipment

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited electrician apprenticeship program
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as an electrician in a marine or industrial setting
  • Knowledge of marine electrical systems and equipment, including generators, motors, and control systems
  • Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and procedures
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work long hours and in all weather conditions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid electrician’s license or certification
  • Valid passport and ability to travel internationally
