Job Advert Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Mechanical Foreman the successful candidate will maintain, service, install and repair Mechanical plant machinery and/or equipment to ensure availability of an efficient plant and continuous water supply to consumers.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent coupled with a recognized trade test as a Fitter or Fitter and Turner.
- 3 years post apprenticeship experience in maintenance, service, installation and repair of Mechanical plant machinery and/or equipment
- A valid Code 08 Driver‘s license and the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 test.
Primary Duties
- Do all daily, monthly and annual scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Investigate and repair all breakdowns.
- To work overtime when is required.
- Manage allocated section of the plant.
- Maintaining of work standards and ensuring legal and safety compliance.
- Perform standby duties when required, thereby accepting responsibilities for all mechanical installations and required
decision making that will insure plant availability after normal hours. - Plan task to ensure that all material, tools, assistants, transport and equipments are available.
Knowledge
- Special training in Pumps
- Knowledge of the OHS act
- Basic cutting and welding
- Maintenance of valves and pipes
