Job Advert Summary

Responsible for the assisting the Section Engineer on the following work: Preventative Maintenance, ad-hoc Maintenance, and Project management to meet the specified standards. Reporting problems to the Section Engineer.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 and S4 or N6 in Electrical (L/C) Engineering.
  • A National Diploma in Electrical (L/C or H/C) Engineering will be advantages
  • Mechanician Trade Test Certificate
  • 10 years’ relevant work experience within a similar environment
  • Code 10 driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and safe working procedures

Primary Duties

  • Inspections and Repairs on the Automation and Instrumentation Equipment’s i.e., cables (Twisted, fibres, profibus, profinet etc), Online analytics Meters (Dissolve Oxygen, Ammonia, Phosphates, Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids) flowmeters, level transmitters, lights, motor control circuits (MCC), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC’s), Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA), Junction Box (JB’s), Low voltage distribution box, Motor Control Circuit, etc.
  • Preventative Maintenance and fault finding on the Automation and Instrumentation Equipment’s including Automation equipment’s.
  • Attending and manage Breakdowns and ad-hoc work.
  • Installing, commissioning and Monitoring of Electrical equipment’s
  • Ensure that Maintenance Report are compiled.
  • Ensuring that health and safety adhere to it.
  • Maintenance planning and scheduling of work.
  • Manage the instrumentation soft ware

Knowledge

  • Instruments, Automation and Electrical Maintenance.
  • Safety knowledge (OHSA and Regulations)
  • Basic understanding of Water and Sanitation Infrastructure i.e., Pipeline network, Pump Stations, and Treatment Works Plants.
  • Basic understanding of Instrumentation and Automation Equipment’s such as Cables (Twisted, fiber and shield) and, Lighting system, VSD, Soft starter, Flow Transmitter, Level transmitter, Pressure Transmitter, Actuator Valves, Control Valves, SCADA, HMI, PLC’s, Circuit breaker, electrical motors, and motor pump
  • Knowledge of PLC and SCADA Programming.

Skills

  • MS office proficiency ‘
  • Ability to conduct Instruments repairs.
  • Good communication skills (verbal).
  • Interpret and design the following drawings:PFD,P&ID,Electrical Circuit diagrams
  • Ability to compile maintenance report.
  • Instrumentation Troubleshooting.
  • Good housekeeping skills.
  • Able to work under pressure
