Job description

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  • Winding plant maintenance according to agreed procedures, standards and regulations
  • Headgear and shaft equipment maintenance according to agreed procedures, standards and regulations
  • Maintenance of pumps and fans according to agreed procedures, standards and regulations
  • Carry legal responsibilities as an Artisan (Fitter)
  • Effective self and team supervision in alignment with MRC values and leadership initiatives
  • Effective stakeholder engagement
  • Engineering equipment is maintained according to agreed standards, procedures and schedules
  • Compliance with SHEQ, MRC and client standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols
  • Cost containment, high mean time to failure after repairs

 

Minimum requirements

 

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
  • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
  • Section 26 Fitter Trade Certificate / MIETTB (mining Industry Engineering Trades Training Board) Trade Certificate through a registered body e.g.: Olifantsfontein pre 1994, ESTC & GFA
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Valid Code EB driver’s license Valid
  • Medical Certificate of Fitness
  • Medically fit to work underground Heat tolerance
  • Good communication skill in English
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
  • 5 years underground (shaft sinking)
  • 5 year’s trade experience as Artisan Fitter
  • Strong knowledge of winding plant
  • Experience on kibble and stage winders
  • Knowledge of the shaft sinking operations
  • Experience and knowledge on the maintenance of fans and pumps
