You will be responsible for the maintenance of all current electrical installations and the repairs of any breakdowns.
You will need to be responsible, alert and cautious while enjoying a hands on approach. Effective communication with the team will be required.
Minimum Requirements
- Appropriate trade test qualification obtained at a reputable institution in South Africa
- At least 4 years experience in the electrical trade
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes of practice
- Advise the Facilities Manager on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous and the availability of spares
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes of practice and by laws
- Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
- Prepare sketches or follow electrical drawings to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes of practice and by laws
- Do monthly inspections on all portable equipment and keep the relevant documentation up to date.
- Do monthly earth leakage tests on all earth leakages in the plant and in the offices and keep the relevant documentation up to date
- Do generator testing
