About the DRD Gold Learnership Programme

Fitting and Machining
Fitting and Machining learners will be trained in the assembly, maintenance, repair, and installation of industrial equipment and machinery used in mining operations.
Electrical
Electrical learners will gain exposure to electrical systems, fault-finding procedures, installations, maintenance practices, and safety standards applicable to industrial environments.
Fabrication
Fabrication learners will develop skills related to metalwork, structural fabrication, welding processes, and the manufacturing of engineering components.
Rigging
Rigging learners will be introduced to lifting operations, equipment handling, load movement procedures, and safety practices required for industrial and mining environments.
Minimum Requirements For DRD Gold Learnership Opportunities 2026: Apply for Engineering Learnerships in Merafong
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Grade 12 qualification with a minimum pass mark of 40% in:
- Pure Mathematics
- Physical Science
- English
OR
- NCV Level 4 qualification
OR
- P1 qualification or higher in an engineering-related discipline
Important Community Requirement
Please note that applications are only open to candidates residing within the Merafong community.
Applicants who do not reside within the Merafong area will unfortunately not be considered for the programme.
