Epol Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship Programme 2026

For young people pursuing careers in mechanical engineering and the artisan trades, securing structured workplace training is one of the most important steps towards developing practical, industry-ready skills. Epol is offering aspiring artisans an opportunity to take that step through its three-year Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship Programme.

The programme forms part of Epol’s commitment to developing young talent in scarce and critical skills and is designed to equip selected candidates with technical training, practical experience and the skills required to support future operational needs.

Who Should Apply?

This apprenticeship is worth considering if you have completed Grade 12 and the relevant N3 technical studies and want to pursue a career in mechanical fitting.

Candidates with N4 qualifications or higher may also have an advantage.

Because this is a three-year programme, applicants should be prepared to commit to long-term technical development rather than viewing the opportunity as short-term employment.

Why a Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship Matters

Mechanical fitters play an important role in industrial and manufacturing operations, where machinery must be installed, maintained and kept operating reliably.

An apprenticeship provides an opportunity to develop practical skills alongside technical knowledge while gaining exposure to an actual working environment.

For candidates who ultimately want to establish themselves within the artisan and mechanical engineering fields, this type of structured programme can provide valuable experience toward building a long-term technical career.

Thabang Maimela’s Tip

Don’t submit a generic CV for this apprenticeship.

Epol has been very specific about the technical subjects it wants. Under your education section, clearly list subjects such as Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing and Fitting and Machining instead of only stating that you completed N3.

If you’ve completed practical workshop training, assisted with mechanical maintenance, worked with machinery or gained exposure through an engineering programme, include it even if it wasn’t permanent employment.

Most importantly, don’t overlook the 50% requirement for Mathematics and Physical Science. Check your results before applying and make sure the qualifications and marks shown on your CV match your supporting documents.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should prepare an updated CV and the relevant educational and technical qualification documents before submitting their application.

Make sure your application clearly demonstrates that you meet the Mathematics, Physical Science and technical-subject requirements.

Candidates should follow the application instructions provided in the official Epol vacancy and ensure all required documentation is submitted correctly. Apply Now
