Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
- Effective supervision of team’s daily tasks to meet targets
- Cost containment, through effective planning, on time availability of materials and equipment, high mean time to failure after repairs, no rework
- Engineering equipment is repaired according to agreed standards, specifications and schedules
- Electrical equipment installations are constructed and maintained according to agreed standards, procedures and specifications
- Effective stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth workflows especially relating to unplanned/non-routine repairs and emergency power outages.
- Self and team comply with the lock out systems required on machinery and equipment
- Safe operation of medium voltage switching
- Self and team wear correct PPE at all times
- Self and team understand and comply with legal regulations and M&RC’s policies, procedures, standards and
- safety protocols
- Effective self and team management in alignment with M&RC values and leadership initiatives
- Work outside of regular working hours as required
Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent
- Section 26 Electrical Trade Certificate / MIETTB (Mining Industry Engineering Trades Training Board)Trade
- Certificate through a registered body, e.g.: Olifantsfontein, pre 1994 ESTC (Engineering Skills Training Centre) James Park GFA (Goldfields Training Academy)
- Contract of Apprenticeship signed off by employer and Department of Manpower
- Medium voltage Certificate
- High voltage Certificate (advantage)
- Flame Proof and Gas Testing Certificates (Essential,)
- Valid First Aid Certificate (Essential, if not available, must obtain at on-boarding)
- Valid Code EB driver’s license
- Good English written and verbal communication skills
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
- Minimum 5 year of mining industry experience (underground, surface and plant)
- Minimum 5 years of trade experience as an Electrician
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Ability to do fault-finding from drawings
- Ability to supervise team and apprentices
