Key Outputs
- Using appropriate welding techniques and tooling to maintain and repair earthmoving equipment and components to OEM standards and customer requirements.
- Do cutting and profile cutting with oxyacetylene cutting process.
- Remove portions of components (i.e., remove adaptor from cutting edge) with air-arc gouging process.
- Provide sound welds in gas-metal arc (CO2) and shield metal arc (stick) welding in the 6G positions.
- Assemble components such as buckets, bowls and blades dimensionally correct as per OEM drawings.
- Use correct tooling to repair broken and bent components.
- Effective self-management and performance ownership.
Qualification, Experience and Competencies
- Qualified in relevant trade (Welder / Boilermaker).
- Minimum 2 years work experience after qualification (Post apprenticeship).
- Medically fit for the position.
- Driver’s licence – Code B.
- Grade 12.
- Spatial visualisation (linked to assembling).
- Must be able to interpret drawings, MIG, TIG gas and arc welding.
- Mechanical ability.
- Hand-eye coordination (Aiming).
- Teamwork.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
