 Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for this Electrician position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) as an Electrician

• OR an equivalent electrical qualification recognized and registered by the Government of the Republic of South Africa

• Completed apprenticeship or learnership in Electrical Engineering (advantageous)

 Experience

• A minimum of 2 years relevant post-qualification experience in the electrical field

• Proven ability to work in industrial plants, utilities, manufacturing, or engineering workshops

• Experience with preventive maintenance and fault-finding on electrical systems and installations

 Key Responsibilities For The X5 Electrical Artisan at Eskom

As a qualified electrician, you will be responsible for:

• Performing electrical maintenance on production machinery and power supply systems

• Diagnosing and resolving electrical faults using modern test and diagnostic tools

• Conducting routine inspections, system testing, and scheduled servicing

• Ensuring compliance with OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act) and internal safety standards

• Training and mentoring junior electricians and apprentices

• Updating maintenance logs and technical reports

• Supporting electrical upgrades, installations, and commissioning projects

 Core Skills & Competencies

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and technical insight

• Proficient in using electrical diagnostic tools and software

• Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, maintenance software)

• Knowledge of electrical codes, safety procedures, and best practices

• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints

• Ability to work under pressure, independently, and within a team

 Additional Qualifications (Advantageous)

• N4/N5/N6 Electrical Engineering Certificate

• Wireman’s License or Installation Electrician Registration (DoL)

• Exposure to SCADA systems, PLC troubleshooting, or automated control panels

• Experience in energy efficiency and electrical compliance audits
