Purpose of the Job

We are seeking a motivated Electrical Apprentice to join our team. The role involves carrying out electrical maintenance, installations, and repairs, while completing the theoretical and practical requirements of the apprenticeship program.

This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about the electrical trade, eager to learn, and committed to delivering quality work in compliance with industry standards.


Key Responsibilities For The AECI 2026 Electrical Apprentice Program 

  • Perform maintenance on electrical equipment, including testing, troubleshooting, and repairs.

  • Attend to breakdowns as per job cards and ensure timely resolution.

  • Assist in installing and upgrading electrical wiring systems, including AC 3-phase motors.

  • Participate in the servicing, repair, and installation of electrical components.

  • Ensure all electrical installations comply with SANS 10142 wiring codes and safety regulations.

  • Support the testing and commissioning of electrical systems.

  • Utilize electrical testing equipment effectively.

  • Adhere to OHSAct safety standards, report hazards, near misses, and incidents honestly.

  • Work closely with Electricians and the Maintenance Team Leader to complete assigned tasks.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric (Grade 12) with N3 Electrical qualification (essential).

  • Basic knowledge of SANS 10142 wiring codes.

  • Awareness of merSETA apprenticeship requirements.

  • Computer literate and familiar with MS Office.

  • Basic understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSAct).

  • Strong report writing skills.
