PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
- Apprenticeship is a combination of on-the-job training and related classroom instruction in which successful applicants learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation;
- It is also a training pathway intended to encourage associates to further their studies, to participate in formal industry training leading to qualifications as an Artisan in the engineering field.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science with at least 50% achieved;
- Must have completed an N2 Electrical Engineering qualification, which includes the following modules:
- Maths;
- Engineering Science;
- Electro Trade Theory;
- Industrial Electronics.
- Kindly ensure that certified ID copy, proof of qualification and academic record is attached when applying;
- This training is strictly aimed at potential candidates who have obtained an N2 qualification – those with higher qualifications won’t be considered.
NB*:It is a requirement that apprentices work under the supervision of a certified artisan for the duration of the programme.
- Apprentices cannot perform the duties of the artisan until qualified;
- As per the merSETA requirements, apprentices will be allocated a qualified artisan as a mentor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This is a 4-year Training Programme where incumbents will be afforded both institutionalised and on-the-job training and will be given an opportunity to attain a Trade Test Certificate.
