The assistant’s responsibilities include:
- arranging meetings and conferences
- arranging travel and accommodation, locally as well as internationally
- diary management and drawing up a year plan
- general support to the Publishing Manager, Exco and the editorial department
- general administrative support
- liaison with authors, the media and other stakeholders
- correspondence on behalf of the Publishing Manager
- keeping minutes of meetings
- populating databases
The successful candidate:
- has a relevant tertiary qualification
- is computer literate (MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
- is completely bilingual in Afrikaans and English and has superior writing skills in both languages
- has excellent organisational abilities and keeps to deadlines
- is meticulous and gives attention to detail
- is a team player with good interpersonal relationships
- has initiative and is flexible
- is interested in books and the publishing industry
Experience of the book industry and knowledge of BookMaster will serve as a recommendation.
