Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Maintenance Technician with an Electrical or Mechanical Trade background to join our high-performance engineering team in a fast-paced FMCG environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the effective maintenance, repair, and optimal functioning of machinery, packaging equipment, and site infrastructure. This is a hands-on position that demands strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to equipment reliability and safety compliance.
Key Performance Areas
The Maintenance Technician’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Maintain and service all machinery and equipment in accordance with company standards and compliance protocols.

Conduct both routine and emergency maintenance on packaging and production machinery.

Perform site equipment repairs and general building maintenance as needed.

Adhere strictly to Planned Maintenance (PM) and Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules.

Improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and ME (Machine Efficiency) on all production lines.

Minimize unplanned downtime by optimizing MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and reducing MTTR (Mean Time To Repair).

Supervise and enforce Health and Safety regulations in accordance with OHS Act compliance.

Complete job cards, maintenance logs, and quality check sheets accurately and on time.

Stand in for supervisors or team leads when required.

Participate actively in E² / TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) programs and process improvement initiatives.

Provide technical support and engineering services to the Production department.
Minimum Requirements & Skills For The Heineken Entry Level Artisan

Grade 12 / Matric certificate.

N3–N6 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Trade Certificate – Electrician or Fitter (Red Seal or equivalent).

At least 3–5 years of maintenance experience in an FMCG or bottling environment.

Experience in high-speed, high-tech packaging machinery is advantageous.

Completed apprenticeship with a recognized institution.

Solid knowledge of fault-finding, problem-solving techniques, and root cause analysis.

Proven leadership qualities with the ability to work under pressure.

Must be self-driven, innovative, and capable of working independently.

Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
