For young people who enjoy working with heavy machinery, agricultural equipment and diesel engines, an apprenticeship provides an excellent pathway to becoming a qualified artisan. Through structured workplace training, apprentices gain practical experience while working towards a recognised trade qualification. Agricultural and earthmoving mechanics continue to be in demand as South Africa’s farming, construction and mining industries rely heavily on specialised equipment.

Successful candidates will complete a 3-year apprenticeship leading to qualification as either a Tractor Mechanic or Earthmoving Mechanic. The programme combines practical workplace experience, formal technical training and industry-recognised learning supported by AgriSETA or MerSETA.
