Minimum Requirements for the Gold Fields Underground Electrician Job Opportunity
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
Recognized Trade Certificate in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an underground electrician
Proven experience in medium voltage (MV) networks/systems, including substations, switchgear, mini substations, etc.
Must be declared medically fit for the position, as per risk-based medical examination requirements at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre
Ability to pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test and any additional assessments required for suitability

Independent and proactive thinker, capable of scheduling and executing tasks within tight deadlines
Hands-on experience working with low and medium voltage systems
Legal inspection expertise for electrical installations in underground environments
Demonstrated success in achieving production goals
Willingness to undergo further training and development on Winders and related infrastructure and equipment
Key Duties & Responsibilities
As an Underground Electrician, you will be responsible for:
Ensuring health and safety compliance for yourself and team members by adhering to Mine Health and Safety Act regulations and company safety protocols
Conducting routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs as per mine standards
Promoting a zero-harm culture by following all health, safety, environmental, and security policies
Performing condition monitoring of equipment and ensuring scheduled and planned maintenance is executed efficiently
Conducting repairs, maintenance, and construction of MCCs, substations
