Key Responsibilities for the Tsebo Group Electrical Artisan

1. Electrical Systems Maintenance & Repairs

Check in with the helpdesk office after completing each job and at the end of the workday.

Manage daily schedules and prioritize jobs effectively.

Prepare necessary tools and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for daily tasks.

Install, repair, and upgrade electrical equipment and systems in line with scheduled maintenance plans.

Conduct fault-finding, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical systems.

Set up wiring and electrical systems to meet specifications and industry standards.

Test newly installed electrical systems to ensure proper performance and identify shorts or system failures.

Diagnose, locate, and repair faults, wiring issues, or damaged conduits.

Conduct electrical inspections to ensure compatibility, safety, and efficiency of components.

Install conduits and run wiring to power switches, circuit breakers, and relays.

Keep management updated on repair status, challenges, and installations.

Secure and store tools, spare parts, and electrical components according to company regulations and SOPs.

2. Electrical Compliance & Safety

Conduct safety inspections and compliance testing on electrical systems.

Ensure all electrical assets, stock, and parts are stored in accordance with safety regulations.

Maintain PPE and safety equipment as per industry standards.

Stay updated with electrical trade regulations, best practices, and new technology.

Adhere to company policies and procedures for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment.

Ensure proper handling of power tools, test meters, conduit benders, and other electrical tools.

3. Shift Supervision & Team Leadership (If Applicable)

Complete and sign off on electrical inspection registers.

Assist and guide clients, junior staff, and contractors with electrical requirements and troubleshooting.

Supervise contractors and junior staff, ensuring they adhere to safety standards and correct procedures.

Oversee stock control and operating equipment in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Handle escalated technical electrical queries and support resolution efforts.

Track and follow up on fault logging until resolved.

Provide recommendations on products, services, and system upgrades for operational efficiency.

4. Electrical Governance & Stakeholder Management

Ensure all work aligns with health, safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations.

Communicate with internal stakeholders regarding electrical repairs, outages, and scheduled shutdowns.

Engage with contractors, suppliers, and junior staff to meet deliverables on time.

Report critical security, health, safety, or technical anomalies to management.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and troubleshooting techniques.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and wiring schematics.

Experience with health & safety regulations, risk assessments, and compliance procedures.

Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines efficiently.

Ability to work independently and within a team.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with clients, team members, and stakeholders.

Proficiency in handling various electrical tools and equipment, including saws, screwdrivers, pliers, test meters, and conduit benders.

Qualifications & Experience

Matric / Grade 12 (Required).

2-Year Diploma / Trade Test as an Electrician (Required).

Wireman’s License (Required).

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in electrical maintenance and repairs.

Supervisory experience (Advantageous).
