RCL FOODS is looking for two Fitter & Turner Apprentices to join our Baking Division in Krugersdorp. If you’re eager to gain hands-on experience, formal technical training, and a trade qualification, this is the perfect opportunity to develop your skills in an industry-leading company.

 

As an apprentice, you will undergo a structured training program, including:

 

Institutionalized training at the Industrial Training Centre (ITC) for approximately 20 weeks.

 

On-the-job training and exposure across various factory sections for approximately 29 weeks during both operational and off-crop seasons.

 

Annual Mini Trade Tests (Phase Tests) to evaluate progress and determine continued participation in the program.

 

Final Trade Test leading to a nationally recognized qualification in Fitting & Turning.

 

Minimum Requirements For The RCL foods 2025 Apprentice Program

Educational Qualifications:

Grade 12 (Matric) with at least an N2 qualification or NCV Level 3.

 

N3 qualification or higher (N4-N6) is preferred.

 

Required N3 Subjects:

Mathematics

 

Engineering Science

 

Industrial Electronics

 

Electrical Trade Theory / Electrical Technology / Electrotechnology

 

Fitting and Machining / Mechanical Technology / Mechanotechnology

 

Proof of successful completion of a formal Institutionalized Training Programme is essential.

 

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

Understanding of Safety, Health, and Environmental Legislation relevant to the industry.

 

Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain structural components of machinery.

 

Hands-on experience in equipment maintenance, mechanical repairs, and fault-finding.

 

Additional Requirements:

Valid EB / Code 8 Driver’s License.

 

Computer literacy (MS Office Suite).

 

Willingness to work shifts, standby duties, callouts, and overtime as required.

 

Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

 

Key Responsibilities

Conduct regular equipment inspections to identify potential faults and prevent breakdowns.

 

Adhere to planned maintenance schedules and execute maintenance tasks efficiently.

 

Ensure accurate completion of work orders in compliance with maintenance processes.

 

Inspect drives, motors, belts, bearings, and other mechanical components for wear and tear.

 

Perform preventative maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing components.

 

Repair and restore functionality to damaged or malfunctioning machinery.

 

Work collaboratively with engineering and maintenance teams to uphold operational efficiency.
