The appointee should:
- Have NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate for Adults) with English Literacy.
- Be in possession of N2 Engineering Drawing.
- Be in possession of N2 Riggers Trade Theory.
- Have Section 13 or 26D (completed learnership / apprenticeship) Rigger Ropesman Trade Certificate as recognised by the QTCO.
- Have at least 3 years’ experience as a qualified Rigger Aide / Apprentice / Artisan within a mining/plant environment.
- Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic Health, Safety, and Environmental& Quality principles in and around the workplace (PPE requirements, housekeeping standards, etc.)
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the causes of Falls Of Ground (FOG)
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of applicable mine gases
- Have working knowledge of and practical experience in engineering technologies and practices.
- No major sensory restrictions.
- Have Good motor skills (hand, eye and foot coordination).
- Have ability to operate within confined spaces and at heights.
- In-depth knowledge of and exposure to heavy equipment movements as well as rope/cable operated equipment and technology.
- Have knowledge of wire ropes, weight estimation, rigging signals, rope splicing.
- Have a clear security screening record.
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre.
