As an Electronic Torque Tool Technician, you will be tasked with maintaining and calibrating a range of electronic and air torque tools used in production. This includes programming, setup, and ensuring compliance with ISO calibration standards. You will work closely with the engineering team to assist in the purchase of new tools and equipment and contribute to ongoing maintenance efforts to keep the plant equipment in top condition. Your role will involve the following key responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setup, Program, Calibrate, and Repair all aspects of electronic and air torque tools used in production.

  • Assist in the specification and purchasing of new electronic/electrical torque tools and test equipment for the plant.

  • Support the maintenance of plant equipment, including jigs, fixtures, and other facility-related tools.

  • Fabricate jigs, fixtures, trolleys, and special tools as required to ensure efficient production processes.

  • Assist with general maintenance tasks to ensure smooth operations across all production lines.

  • Maintain a high level of record-keeping of calibration and testing results as per ISO standards.

  • Support the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) concepts for critical plant equipment and machinery.

  • Ensure safe work practices are followed and help implement Health and Safety (H&S) improvement measures as required.

  • Assist in maintaining the 5S methodology in all related work areas to ensure optimal workplace organization and cleanliness.

  • Contribute to achieving plant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by maintaining and improving operational efficiency.

Requirements for the Electronic Torque Tool Technician Position

We are looking for a qualified electrical artisan with proven experience in electronic torque tool calibration and maintenance. The following qualifications and experience are required:

Qualifications for the MAN Automotive Electrical Artisan

  • Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate.

  • Qualified Electrical Artisan with trade test certification.

  • Metrology certification is advantageous for this role.

Skills:

  • Proficient in computer literacy and the use of calibration and setup software for torque tools.

  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues with equipment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.

  • Flexible, active, and forward-thinking with a proactive approach to your work.

  • Strong focus on teamwork, ensuring effective collaboration across departments.

  • Reliable, performance-oriented, and self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

  • Process-oriented with a keen eye for detail, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.

Experience:

  • 1 year of hands-on experience with the setup, programming, repairs, and maintenance of electronic torque tools.

  • 3 years of experience in tool calibration methods for electronic and manual torque tools.

  • 1 year of experience in testing electronic, electrical equipment, and fabrication tools.

  • Working knowledge of electronic torque tool setup and calibration software.

  • 1 year of experience in welding, electronics, electrical, and health and safety requirements.
