The Department of Employment and Labour is hiring a Technical Assistant: Electrical Engineering at its Head Office in Pretoria. This is an excellent entry-level government job in engineering for recent graduates looking to start a public sector career in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).

 

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualification:

 

3-year National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or

 

Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Electrical Engineering

 

Driver’s License: Valid South African driver’s license

 

Experience: No experience required – ideal for recent graduates

 

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the development and implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies

 

Support technical research on OHS trends, regulations, and benchmarking

 

Evaluate entity applications in line with OHS programme compliance

 

Provide administrative and project support to the OHS Directorate

 

Skills and Competencies

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

 

Effective planning and facilitation skills

 

Excellent communication and presentation abilities

 

Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite)

 

Knowledge of Public Service Regulations, Batho Pele Principles, OHS Act, COIDA, and OHSAS standards
