Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Reliability Technician to join our engineering and maintenance team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in improving equipment reliability through expert-level fault finding, problem solving, and performance monitoring. This role aligns with World-Class Manufacturing (WCM) philosophies and is vital to ensuring operational efficiency and asset optimization.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, applicants must possess at least one of the following:

Matric / Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science

Diploma or BTech in Electrical Engineering – Heavy Current
-
N4/N6 in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
-
Trade-Tested Artisan (Red Seal) certification
-
Diploma in a relevant Engineering discipline
-
CRMP – Certified Reliability Maintenance Professional (advantageous)
Required Experience
-
5–10 years of hands-on experience in a maintenance or plant technician role
-
Proven track record in asset care, condition monitoring, and reliability engineering
-
Strong background in electrical systems, fault-finding, and continuous improvement
-
Familiarity with preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Statutory & Safety Compliance
-
Ensure all maintenance work adheres to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act)
-
Monitor and report on statutory compliance and corrective actions
Reliability and Equipment Analysis
-
Conduct detailed MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) and MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) analysis
-
Identify problematic assets and equipment requiring special attention
-
Determine focus areas for Autonomous Maintenance (AM) and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
-
Monitor Work Order and Maintenance Schedule Compliance
-
Track resource utilization and recommend optimizations
-
Evaluate and manage the critical spares list for PPM and AM
Root Cause Analysis & Technical Reporting

Collaborate with the Reliability Engineer to perform advanced fault finding
-
Lead or assist in 5-Why analysis, RCFA, and continuous improvement projects

Prepare technical documentation and reports on failures and improvements
Cost & Budget Management

Approve purchase orders within delegated financial limits
-
Source quotations from external service providers and track spend
-
Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and ensure budget adherence
5S & Operational Excellence

Drive the implementation of 5S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)

Promote clean, organized, and safe workspaces in line with World Class Manufacturing
Core Competencies and Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)

Working knowledge of CRS Payroll Systems (advantageous)

Strong analytical thinking, with the ability to interpret technical data

High attention to detail and commitment to equipment uptime and reliability
