Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will provide advanced mechanical support and execute preventative and corrective maintenance on heavy machinery used in underground mining operations. Your contribution will directly impact the reliability, safety, and performance of mining equipment, ensuring that we continue to exceed client expectations in uptime and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute mechanical maintenance tasks, including both preventive and corrective work.

• Support planning, preparation, and execution of maintenance schedules.

• Diagnose faults and conduct root cause analysis on mechanical breakdowns.

• Maintain accurate documentation of work completed, including improvement recommendations.

• Adhere to quality control and cleanliness standards, maintaining a tidy and safe work environment aligned with 5S principles.

• Collaborate with operations and other technicians to meet maintenance targets and operational KPIs.

• Communicate effectively regarding equipment status and any operational deviations.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and personal development plans.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or N3 Technical Certificate

  • Recognized Section 26D Trade Certificate with proof of completed apprenticeship

• Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mining mechanical maintenance

  • Experience specifically in mechanized underground mining is essential

• Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in mechanical fault-finding and repairs on mining and earthmoving equipment

  • Basic computer literacy and strong reporting/documentation skills

  • Effective communication in English

  • A strong safety orientation with understanding of underground mining protocols
