Implats 2026 Work Integrated Learner

Purpose of the Role:

The purpose of this opportunity is to provide practical, hands-on work experience for a period of 12 months in line with university and qualification requirements. The training will take place within the chemical engineering discipline and is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application in a metallurgical and refining environment.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Completion of all theoretical modules required for the National Diploma in Chemical Engineering.

  • A sound understanding of chemical engineering principles and process fundamentals.

  • Must be medically fit for placement in either BMR (Base Metals Refinery) or PMR (Precious Metals Refinery).

  • South African citizenship and residency in Gauteng or surrounding areas is advantageous.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assigned responsibilities will align with both workplace requirements and academic institution guidelines.

  • Daily tasks will be supervised by a designated mentor or coach to ensure meaningful learning and development.

  • Exposure to real-time operations, chemical processes, safety practices, and refinery standards.

  • Participation in departmental meetings, safety briefings, and engineering problem-solving activities.
